Junkanoo

Junkanoo is a Festival brought to the Bahamas by west African slaves in the1800s it is derived from costumes and musical instruments such as Goatskin drums, cowbells & whistles.

     

 

Party and dances were held on Christmas and boxing day.
there are many theories as to its origins, John Canoe was a fixture in the Bahamas.

      

Today
Junkanoo is apart of Bahamian culture and is celebrated all over the world.
